Decided to send our marketing department some new ideas

I’ve mentioned in the past that I invented a pretty high-tech sealant/ceramic/composite/whatever the fuck term you want to call it car wash product that repairs minor damage to the clearcoat and leaves behind a hardened surface coating to protect against further damage. Well we’re in the final phases of testing before nationwide rollout! This means it’s time for all the little details to start to get addressed. And since marketing is convinced every product needs the same label design template and should never EVER deviate, I decided to see what I could come up with on my own.

To show the potential of our products via just our labels, I mocked up some rough ideas of what the new product labels *could* look like. And tell me, wouldn’t you want to go through a wash knowing THESE bad boys were online? (descriptions and directions not yet final!)

Both products have a “shadow” dye added to them (long story short - it makes the product seem to glow a different color than what it is) and the base color matches the font color with the shadow dye being the same as the drop shadow. So HyperGloss is a neon yellow with a pink glow dye, and atomic armor is obnoxiously purple with an “atomic” green glow to it.

Our current labels? Well this is a small image, but here’s what a drum looks like with our current label:

Yuck.

These designs are far from final, but I’d much rather see some vaporwave inspired neon dreams stuff than a label that screams “The bare minimum”.

From my understanding your products get sold to commercial car washes and not retail customers. I don’t think fancy packaging is necessary.

But elsewhise those would look great in a retail enviroment.

I like the name Atomic Armor. Can it be used on a vehicle with no clearcoat? Redneck spray paint job :P

For being a label, I prefer the boring one, clear, to the point, and easy to read.

Obviously for marketing, it’s no good, but I assume car washes aren’t wandering into the warehouse and deciding what to buy based on the drum labels?

I like the ‘80s-tastic designs, though as someone who is currently doing ADA cleanup on a website, I’m pretty sure most of that text would fail contrast guidelines.

I am curious to see how well this stuff works if it’s available near me though.

We’ve seen single-stage cars come out look ing like cash money. So yes, yes it can be used on cars without a traditional clear coat.

I tried to track down one guy who came in with a wrapped pickup truck but he didn’t stop to vacuum out his truck. I was curious if hi truck’s wrap was supposed to be glossy or if we accidentally un-matted his wrap.

Even though they’re not on a retail shelf, I like the idea that we actually have a brand and image to them. Our competitors have unique labels for their premium products too. Not all of them, and sometimes they have a small selection of templates, but it’s rare to see a “one template fits all” in the industry outside of the bare bottom economy brands.

We actually are a franchise model. You get very little choice. But the customers can see what brand(s) a particular wash uses. Particularly on the premium end. I will say we have at least 4 different options for the wax and the sealant products and depending on which ones you get, you have different signage put up both outside and inside the car wash.

Good point on the ADA thing though. I mae an attempt with the arkened sections, but the “White text field with black outline and black text” is probably the easiest solution. Hopefully they can combine them into something both rad, yet functional.

That feels like something that could/should be tested, especially with all the expensive-option OEM matte paint options these days.

That falls more on the OEMs and makers of wrap material to properly tell people how to care for their expensive paint options than us needing to find the right cars that will let us give them a test run.
